Ramp Conveyor
Bridging Elevation with Power and Mobility
Adjustable-height powered transfer conveyor for cell-to-cell and elevation transitions.
Carmaky’s Ramp Conveyor adds drive power and variable height adjustment to the flexibility of the Grasshopper Conveyor. It is designed for transfer between leach cells with elevation changes or for advancing up ramps on engineered pads without relying on fixed conveyor infrastructure.
Specifications
| Standard length | 35 m modules |
|---|---|
| Belt widths | 600–1500 mm |
| Height adjustment | 3 to 6 m discharge height |
| Capacity | Approximately 300–2,000 tph, dependent on ore and configuration |
Key Benefits on Site
- Higher-Powered Drive
Provides the powered transfer required for suitable inclined load handling duties.
- Adjustable Height
Bridges elevation differences between cells and pad levels.
- Mobile Relocation
Supports relocation up pads or across bermed and ramped areas.
- System Compatibility
Works with the Grasshopper string and the complete Carmaky stacking train.
System Role: Where It Fits
The Ramp Conveyor is used at the start of the stacking train where elevation differences exist or a ramped approach is required.
Typical flow:
Feed source → Ramp Conveyor → Grasshopper string → Transverse Conveyor → Horizontal Index Conveyor → Radial Stacker
Common Applications
- Heap Leach Stacking Across Elevation Changes
Powered transfer where the stacking route moves between different pad elevations.
- Cell-to-Cell Transitions
Transfer between cells where height variance must be accommodated.
- Ramp-Based Stacking Pad Systems
Mobile transfer where a ramped approach forms part of the pad arrangement.
- Intermediate Lifting Before Distribution
Elevation transfer before material enters the downstream distribution and stacking equipment.
Standard Features
- Wheel mounted with loader, dozer or telehandler towing point
- Adjustable-height frame with 3–6 m discharge height
- Mine duty frame for rough terrain
- Spillage control at transfers
- Fast setup and compatibility with Carmaky conveyors
- Local support from South Africa

Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some common questions we get asked at Carmaky.
What is a Ramp Conveyor?
A Ramp Conveyor is a mobile transfer conveyor designed to move material across changes in elevation. It provides a controlled transfer point where cell-to-cell transitions, ramps or differences in pad elevation need to be accommodated.
Why is a Ramp Conveyor used in heap leach operations?
A Ramp Conveyor helps transfer ore between areas operating at different elevations. It allows material to be conveyed efficiently where a change in height would otherwise require additional mobile equipment or infrastructure.
What elevation changes can a Ramp Conveyor accommodate?
The Ramp Conveyor is designed with an adjustable discharge height. The final operating range depends on the selected configuration and project requirements.
Where does the Ramp Conveyor fit within a heap leach stacking system?
The Ramp Conveyor is generally positioned at the beginning of the stacking train where elevation differences exist between the feed source and the downstream conveyor system. It typically transfers material to the Grasshopper Conveyor string.
Can the Ramp Conveyor be integrated with other Carmaky equipment?
Yes. The Ramp Conveyor is designed to integrate with Grasshopper Conveyors, Transverse Conveyors, Horizontal Index Conveyors and Radial Stackers as part of a complete heap leach stacking system.
Are Ramp Conveyors only used for heap leaching?
No. Ramp Conveyors can also be used in stockyards, ports, bulk material handling facilities and other applications where material must be transferred across changes in elevation using a mobile conveyor arrangement.
Discuss Your Ramp Conveyor Requirements
Provide the application, material, capacity, required elevation change, conveyor arrangement and site conditions so Carmaky can review the duty and develop a suitable Ramp Conveyor configuration.
